The Hyundai's and the Komatsu have a longer undercarriage with 700mn triple grouser plates which not only increases stability but reduces the ground pressure to 0.40kg/cm2. This also coupled with the fact that the machine can remain stationary while covering a wider work area further reduces environmental impact in all applications.

Obviously this has opened up job opportunities completely removed from normal hydraulic excavator applications. These include placing the excavator on a barge for dredging work in lakes and rivers. This is a more economical proposition than hiring a specialist dredge or using outdated draglines.
